REVEREND DR. ANNA E. MOSBY

The Reverend Dr. Anna E. Mosby is a fourth generation AME. She was born and raised in Nebraska and has spent most of her adult life living in Prince Georges County, Maryland. She holds a Doctor of Ministry, with emphasis on Pastoral Care, from McCormick Theological Seminary; a Master of Divinity (with honors) from the Howard University School of Divinity; a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University; and a Bachelor of Business Administration (cum laude), with a concentration in Finance from the University of the District of Columbia.

Rev. Anna answered God’s call to ordained ministry over 24 years ago while an active member of Hemingway Memorial AME Church, under the pastoral leadership of her father-in-ministry, the late Rev. Dr. William Robert Porter. As Minister to Women, she supervised the Women’s Ministry leadership team and coordinated countless women’s retreats and activities. She also served at Union Bethel AME Church Brandywine, MD under the leadership of her spiritual father, the (now) Bishop Harry L. Seawright. As Coordinator of the North Location, she was responsible for all ministry services, events, and administrative functions. Her life mission is to empower and equip women and men to excel through the power of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Mosby is the former Pastor of Mt. Gilboa AME Church in Catonsville, MD and the first woman to Pastor St. Jude AME Church in Germantown, MD. She currently serves as the Senior Pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Washington, DC.

Dr. Mosby is President of the Second Episcopal District Women in Ministry (AME/WIM), the official professional organization for women pursuing excellence in ministry in the AME Church. She provides leadership and support to over 700 clergywomen in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia. Dr. Mosby also serves on several AME District- and Conference-level committees. She is an instructor in the Washington Conference Board of Examiners and a faculty member of Peace Multicultural Theological Seminary. Her community engagement includes Board member of the Collective Empowerment Group, Inc., and active membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the AME Ministerial Alliance of Washington, DC and Vicinity, and the NAACP.

Rev. Anna’s most joyful roles are proud mother of two daughters and one son-in-love; and grandmother to four “jewels” (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Delon II, and Deilyn), who hold her heart. In life and ministry, she relies on one of her favorite passage of scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
